Shastiapthapoorthi has to be performed on the bridegroom completing his 60 years i.e, starting of 61 years. Shastiapthapoorthi has to be perfomed exactly on his birth star (Jenma Nakshatram) and the corresponding Tamil Month.
It is ideal to perfom Shastiapthapoorthi on the star day (Jenma Nakshatra day). However, if you are not aware of the birth star details, this can be performed on any of your convenient Muhurtha day.
Shastiapthapoorthi can be performed till 65 years. The main criteria of 60 years completion should be met.
Ugraradha Shanthi - For 59 years Completion
Bheemaradha Shanthi - For 69 years completion
Sadabishegam - For 79 years completion
And other Ayul Mrithunjeya Homams like Ayush Homam, Saptha Draviya Homam, Shodhasa Draviya Homam etc.

The Homam / Function would be performed in the Temple Praharams. Either in Swami Amirthakadeshwarar Praharam or Abirami Ambal Sannathi.
Each function would be performed individually in the space allocated in the Praharam by the Temple Devasthanam.
In Sanskrit, Shasti means 60, Aptha means Age, Poorthi is Completion. Hence, its called Shastiapthapoorthi. Other common terms for Shastiapthapoorthi is Sastiabdhapoorthi, Shastiabdhapoorthi, Shastipurthi, Sastipuri etc. Shastiapthapoorthi is also widely know as 'Manivizha' in Tamil Nadu
Thirukadaiyur is well connected by Road / Rail. The Nearest Railway station is Mayiladuthurai (Station Code MV). From Mayiladuthurai, Thirukadaiyur is approximately 18 Kms / 45 Mins travel by Road. Buses proceeding to Karaikal, Velankanni and Nagapatinam goes via Thirukadaiyur.
Buses going to Karaikal, Velankanni, Nagapatinam goes via Thirukadaiyur. From Chennai, there are two routes 1) via ECR 2) Via Villipuram highway. It would take approximately 6.5 hours to reach Thirukadaiyur.
By Train, there are around 6 daily trains from Chennai Egmore to Mayiladuthurai (morning / night trains). The distance is 280 Kms and would take approximatley 5 1/2 Hrs.

There is a daily train Mysore Mayiladuthurai Express Departing Bangalore 1905 Hrs and arrival Mayiladuthurai 0700 Hrs next day. Travel time is around 12 Hrs / Distance 540 Kms.
By Road, distance is approximately 350 Kms.
